i keep hearing about this show?!! what is it about?? is it any good?

Very, very extremely good. I think that both the anime and the manga are spectacular!! It's so cute and funny. But it has really dark moments that give it depth.

It's about a girl, Torhu Honda, that meets the sohma family that is cursed with the zodiac which means that when someone from the opposite sex hugs them or is in alot of pain or under alot of stress, they turn into a animal from the zodiac and torhu finds out and has to keep their secret and is also trying to undo the curse. It's a really good show ^.^
Reply:fruits basket is basically about a girl named tohru honda who lost her dad when she was young and lost her mom later on. she is poor so she has to live in a tent at first, she ends up living in a area belonging to the sohma's. there she meets yuki, kyo, and shigure. and finds out what dark secret the sohma family tries to hide..

Reply:Wow. It's fantastic. The character development it superb, yes I'm more partial to the manga because it actually has an ending. Don't get me wrong the anime is great too. I would summarize it for you, but a lot of other answerers have done that for you.
Reply:Tohru Honda is a cheerful 16 year old girl. She was orphaned when her mother was killed in a car accident. Not wanting to burden anyone, she buys a tent and begins to live in a forest. She is determined to finish school in order to fulfill her mother's last wish. But, it turns out that the land Tohru is living on belongs to the Sohma family. She is quickly invited to live in the Sohma house (all males), as long as she is willing to cook and clean. One of the Sohma's, Yuki, is the most popular boy at Tohru's high school. He is swooned by girls constantly and is even referred to as the "prince" of the school. His cousins Shigure and Kyo make up the rest of the household.











Tohru knows that her living environment is out of the normal, but things turn out to get stranger. The members of the Sohma family are possessed by animals and they turn into their true selves when they are embraced by the opposite sex! You can imagine Tohru's surprise when she witnesses their secret. She promises not to tell a soul, but the "cat" may already be out of the bag.

Reply:The shows not as good as the Manga, the manga reaches up to vol 23 I think and the show only reaches up to vol 8, it's good but The manga would be better if your just starting out on it.

Reply:Damn good if you ask me...you can see from so many comments that it is a great anime. What I like about it is because it talks about so many things that are within ourselves. The plot is good, the characters development is good and the themes are good too. Plus, there are so many 'bishonen' in it...lol. All in, it is one heck of a great show.





Anyway, it is about this orphaned girl, Tohru Honda, who lives in a tent in a jungle after the death of her mother. Unknowingly to her, the land belongs to the Sohma clan who discovered her and eventually they let her stay at one of their house to be the housekeeper. Anyway, it is not long before she found out that the family is cursed with the spirits of the animals from the chinese zodiac including the cat. And so, our story follows how our Tohru interacts with the Sohma family, their blooming relationship and the various hilarious and embarrassing situation that everyone gets thrown into.
