Fruits basket why cant people fight against akito?

I understand akito being god of the sohma family chinese zodiac curse but shouldnt they be able to fight him. why cant they just get rid of akito? wouldnt it put an end to there suffering and they would be able to do whatever they want?

Akito is head of the family. In Japanese culture, you _never_ question the will of the head of family, and as I understand it, Furuba adheres very strictly to cultural standards.





Also, there's a lot going on in the Sohma's main house. There's some really enlightening information in the latter volumes of the manga (besides the fact that Akito is a woman, despite appearances). I won't spoil it for you, but I can say one thing; Shigure isn't as nice and fun loving as he seems.





One last thing: there's no incest. I know it looks that way, but the explanation is that 'Sohma' is a common last name in Japan. So, a Sohma marries a Sohma from a different family, and so on, and so on. (I think this part was supposed to be in someone else's question, but I'm leaving it here just incase anyone was wondering. *_*)

Reply:well for teh Sohma family he is the most important peson in the family. he is like.. it hard to explain but he is in the top and they cant fight back its like he is more superior than anyone else to the famlily so maybe thats why but the only people that had kinda fought against him would be Yuki and shigure tried to stop akito from harming tohru

Reply:well Akito's God and you can't fight God. i know it gets on my nerve too!!! like Akito ruins EVERYTHING!!!! she (Akito's actually a girl) hurts people like Rin, Yuki, and Kyo mentally, and she also ruins all the love lives! because of her Haru and Rin broke up, and Arisa and Kareno can't be together. it's annoying but it makes you want to read the manga even more.
