Carving watermelon basket?

Anyone ever carve a watermelon basket? I plan on having a fruit basket at a party, I was curious if its ok if i carve it the night before so i have less to do the day of the party. Wasnt sure if the water melon would fall apart.

It's fine to carve the night before! Just make sure you refrigerate it!
Reply:Put the carved shell in a large zip lock, like two gallon size, so it dosen't dry out
Reply:Yes and no. If you do then keep the fruit pieces out of the watermelon hull and make sure that you drain the fruit before filling the hull up.


You should also cut a thin horizontal slice off the bottom of the melon so as to provide a level surface for the melon to rest on.
Reply:You shouldn't have a problem.
Reply:I would not do it the night before. Fresh fruit will wilt and turn colors. Take the time to do it that day!
