Fruits Basket...12 zodiacs... freed?

I know at the end all the zodiac animals get freed and whatnot, but I don't really understand HOW they do. I know Kyo did because he admited his love for Tohru, but it's not admiting they "love" someone that frees them, right? Because if so, Kureno didn't admit that he loved anyone when he freed, so how is it lifted?

It's from Akito's decision. Only Akito can set them free from the curse because she's the leader of their clan. She did that because she's aware that the curse only give sufferings to the zodiac members.





However, it's not explained "how" Akito unleashed the curse...

Reply:i think they got freed because from the start, it was not a curse, it was a friendship bond that they made to each other(12 zodiacs + cat + the God)... but as time passed by, the humans that were possessed by the zodiacs and the God thought it was a curse, and the God didn't want them to suffer any more, so he let go of the bond that was between them...
