Fruits Basket?

Does anyone who read the manga understand the ending to the anime? I know that they shortened it up but I was confused at the last 3 episodes so if someone could explain it that would be great.

Kazuma released Kyo into the true form of the cat pursposely so that Tohru would see just exactly what Kyo really was. He wanted to make sure Tohru would be up to the task of accepting Kyo for what he really was. He was basically just looking out for Kyo because he didn't want his adopted son to get hurt like he had in the past when others had seen his true form. If Tohru ran away from Kyo, Kazuma would know she wouldn't be able to care for him like Kazuma felt Kyo deserved after all the pain and abuse he's been through thanks to Akito and his father.





But she did go after him, and so did Yuki. It's way different in the manga though...Yuki and Tohru go and hold him down, making him listen to them, telling him that he is cared about and that if he leaves, it will not solve anything and that they both accept him for who he is. (I think they just put Yuki there so it would seem like Tohru had someone there to help hold Kyo down to listen to her) They yell and he tries to get loose but thanks to Tohru's kind words and caring manner, she DOES tell him that she's frightened, something he was afraid of her saying because now he feels ashamed and that she will never look at him the same again. But she comes back to say that nothing has changed and that she can't survive in a world without "Kyo-kun" that she wants to make happy memories with him. So he calms down and transforms back, and she walks back with Kyo in his cat form in her arms because she hugged him when he turned back into his human form.





Now remember when Akito found her in the forest and taunted her? He really thought she couldn't win and calm Kyo down, telling her she didn't belong...so Tohru decided she wanted to face Akito, so Hatori and Shigure and Yuki go in to see Akito. He gets mad, grabs her by her hair, yelling at her. It turns out he's really just jeaous of her because he's afraid she's taking all his junnishi away from him, and since he only has a short time to live, he wants to be surrounded by them and have all their attention. (his life is shortened due to the heavy burden of having their god's spirit inhabit in him) But Tohru works her magic, talks him down, changes his mind...





they all go home, Yuki and Kyo fighitng like always and things are back to normal, blah di blah blah. It's a really cheesy ending and TOTALLY different from the manga which is much better and a lot more accurate. The end of the anime was a let down...

It was just like in vol.6 where Tohru sees Kyo's true form, and doesn't run away from him and tells him that she will stay with him.





EDIT: Like what Cat said, it was a test to see if Tohru would flee or stay with Kyo.
Reply:In the last three episodes of FB it was almost like they were testing Tohru. They removed Kyo's beads to see if she was going to stay after she saw his true form. Kyo mother said that she was fine with it when it terrified her. The thought of her son being a monster. Tohru admitted to being scared of Kyo's true form, I think that's what they were trying to see, if she would be honest about how she felt. Yuki mentioned that all they did was run, they ran from the curse and Kyo ran from his true form trying to hide it. Kagura accepted his form, she was afraid of it, but accepted it. When they went to Aktio tohru then sees akito he seems to be in a bad calm mood he finally gets mad when tohru wont say what she came to say he grabs her head and pulls her hair saying for her to beg like a coward for mercy.hatori and yuki grab him tohru begins to cry saying she felt bad for akito that he had to die early so the sohmas could live saying she couldnt imagine how it was to hear you were going to die at an early age she then said that what he didnt understand was that he was still alive. he then releases her.they all leave akito and yuki offers kyo a fight things are back to normal.
