Are "Fruits Basket" and "Love Hina" appropriate for Children?

Are both the manga books and the anime tv shows appropriate for people under 13?

Are "Fruits Basket" and "Love Hina" appropriate for Children?
I read both of them and I have to say, Fruits Basket is probably better for kids 13 and younger. It's a beautiful and funny tale about love, friendship, and family ties. The thing I adore most about this series is that the problems they face so real. It's not like their dad died by being attacked by rabid raccons, it's about problems that most of us are lucky enough that we don't have to face.

During the first ten volumes, it's very light-hearted, but later, the series becomes a bit darker (kinda like Harry Potter). Everybody has complex personalities, hidden secrets, and dark pasts...

For Love Hina, I would have to agree with darksunshine. It is a bit perverted. (ie: pantie shots, lots of cleavage) Probably not the best thing for a young mind....^-^

I already finished Fruits Basket, thanks to manga scanlations online, but for Love Hina, I'm only on vol. 2, and I guess I haven't seen the true plot of the story yet, but i do know one thing: Fruits Basket seems more appropriate.

Hana-Kimi is nice too! It has some similarities with Ouran High School Host Club though. (Both of those are also excellent for 13 years and younger kids)

Good luck on your quest for the best manga/anime! ^^
Reply:i agreed with shy girl about fruits basket. perfectly suitable.

as for love hina... well... i don't think its as appropriate. its wat is called a "shounen romance" or a romance sotry that caters more to guys. all shounen romances talk about one average guy and a whole bunch (usually well endouwed) of girls. in this case its about a guy who is staying in an all female dorm. i've a similar manga by this artist and that is anything to go by then love hina will have alot fo fan service (i.e. panties shots and such). if its a girl reading it then i don't think its such a bad thing, because i have a friend who really like hte series for the story. but if a boy under 13 is reading it i doubt it for the story.

so in the case of love hina if the person reading it is say 12+ (i don't think anyone too young should read it) and a girl then i'd say its ok, but if ur talking about a boy, then no.
Reply:I would say it depends on your standers. Love Hina is definitely a teen show about teen emotions %26amp; relationships. In this way it shows what is going on inside a teen as they come to terms with their growing emotions. For the 13 year old, I might suggest Oh My Goddess a bit more. With romance, relations %26amp; sexual maturity being taken so cheaply these days, a sensitive romance can be a good thing. I do think that there is a difference if it is a young boy or girl watching the show though. This is a different topic.

Both shows are strong on character %26amp; emotions so they have a good representation of what is can go on in the other personas mind %26amp; heart. Fruits Basket is a good show and I walked away with it showing people in a higher level. This is something missing these days.

Other shows I might recomend are Magic Users Club, Somedays Dreamer, Tenchi in Love the movie %26amp; Risky Safety.
Reply:I'm not very sure about "Love Hina", seeing as I've never watched or read it. But "Fruits Basket" is pretty appropriate for people under thirteen. The manga has a bit of language, nothing major. The anime and manga have minimal blood in later episodes/chapters. There is a bit of lighthearted comedy about Shigure's pervertedness, although it isn't as pointed as Jiraiya's in "Naruto".

Sincerely,

Shy Girl/Doomface.
Reply:Fruits Basket yes.

Love Hina no.

I have seen them both.
Reply:I have read both of them and watched both of them. Fruits basket is apporiate for kids under 13 but not Love Hina because sometimes the character are not fully clothed and the language is not really apporiate for kids either
