why does akito hate yuki so much?


i havent read the manga yet im just curious to know

Because he's not as sickly as akito is. I'm not sure if you meant to say Akito because Akito is the head of the Soma clan and rarely appears in the beginning, plus I never really noticed a rivalry between them. I think you mean Kyo who is the cat.





He hates Yuki because Yuki is better at everything. Kyo went to train for a long time to become a better fighter than Yuki, but Yuki still fights better. He is also more popular, has better grades, and is more skilled than Kyo.





Since Yuki is the rat of the Zodiac, Kyo naturally hates him because according to a legend, the rat tricked the cat into missing a gathering with all of the animals that joined the zodiac. Because of that, there is a natural resentment.

Reply:I'm reading the manga but I'm only on the 9th one. I'm pretty sure that it's because the rat is special, elite, and stronger than the other zodiac (and probably because of something in Yuki's past). But I think it goes deeper than that. Fruits Basket rocks!!!!!!!!
Reply:I don't think Akito hates Yuki. I think Akito feared being alone and the zodiac bonds breaking so much that she tortured/hurt and made sure Yuki would fear others and want to stay with her.





Akito also made a bet with Ran which can explain some of the later hostile behavior.





I could really go into an all out discussion regarding my thoughts on Akito's and Yuki's relationship, but I'll spare you the hours and the spoilers. Read the manga it might give you more insight.
Reply:well akito doesn't hate yuki , but he is afraid because he thinks that nobody loves him and that yuki, the person he cares most about will run away from him.

Reply:Akito doesn't necessarily hate Yuki. Actually, she doesn't hate anyone at all, she's just scared that Yuki and the others Zodiac members will leave her so she wants them to fear her even if its going to mean psychological and/or physical torture. However, she does have a tendency to hate women who threaten to steal away the Zodiac. Akito is like a "God" so she could think that she could do whatever she wants to them but she wouldn't have to get punished.





Also, Akito made a bet with Ren, her mother. Ren challenged Akito saying that if Akito allowed the Juunishi (Zodiac members) to stray and to form other bonds with "outsiders," and they abandoned him, then Akito would have to bow down before Ren and leave the Sohmas forever. On the other hand, if the Juunishi still returned to Akito's side after going out into the world, then Akito would win. Ren predicted and believed that the Zodiac members would abandon him but Akito denied that, being hostile. That's why she can be over-protective and angry or sad when any of the Zodiac members leave temporarily or don't show up when she expects them to.





Read the manga, it is really worth reading and you'll find out more about the Zodiac members and other characters that are not shown in the anime. =)
